Earlier this month, I was asked to participate in StyleCaster’s 5 for 5 feature in collaboration with Bloomingdale’s to put together a denim inspired look for spring. With other blog friends and online taste-makers, Keiko Lynn, Laura Ellner, Christine Cameron, and Nicolette Mason, five distinct denim outfits were created that is sure to fit any girl, on any budget, with any preferred type of denim. Can you guess which look I styled?
Q&A: Who is Sartorial Girl?
Where did the idea for your blog begin?
I wanted to track my personal, style journey into the fashion world after I moved to New York about 2 years ago. But since then, the blog has become a photo diary of everything I love and everything that inspires me. I love style, I love photography, and I love inspirational quotes so the blog mainly focuses on that.
Has anything changed as your blog has grown?
The site is still fairly new but now that I’m gaining more and more followers, I get a lot of questions, both personal and style-related; and it feels so weird to see that people want to know about me.
How would you describe your personal style?
Modern, men’s inspired, and understated. I have a weakness for black. I’m always in something black.
Who are your style icons?
Jackie Onassis, Grace Kelly, Victoria Beckham, Daphne Guinness, Ashley Olsen, Sarah Rutson…
If you could go shopping with any person (dead or alive) who would it be?
Stacy London… simply for the fact that she’s real and honest and she tells it like it is. “We don’t want you to have another square-toed heel because we want you to have a sex life.” I need people like that when I’m shopping. But if I could, I would go shopping with a lot of people. All of my style icons! Carine Roitfeld is another one. She’s so funny.
Any exciting projects in the works? If so, can you share a bit?
Yes! I’m doing a lot of social media consulting right now but I’m about to start a really cool video project with a very good friend. I’m deeply fascinated by film and photography so I’m very excited about this project. Can’t reveal details yet but it’s going to be great.
Fashion guilty pleasure?
TOMS shoes.They are so ugly, but so practical when I’m running around all over the city. And it’s for a great cause!
Tell us about the outfit you styled:
I wanted to put together an outfit that I would wear myself so as I was styling, I immediately went for anything black. Starting the look with a nice, cropped black denim, which is a classic and a staple for any season, I build the rest of the outfit by color-blocking, which is a key trend. The colors in the sandals and the bright hue of the bag added just enough splash of Spring.

Fashion Deets: DL1961 Black Denim, $168; Pippa Blouse, $138; Vince Camuto Sandal Heel, $129; Aqua Cuff, $28; Aqua Gold Necklace, $45; Cambridge Satchel, $155;
